BK Enterprise has been awarded the contract for the Village Access Road Project in Nimba County under the Liberian-Swedish Access Driven Rural Development Programme (LISA), funded by the Government of Sweden through SIDA. The contract was secured through a competitive bidding process conducted by the Ministry of Public Works. Spanning 90 kilometers of rural footpaths to be upgraded into all-season motorcycle-accessible roads, the project aims to enhance connectivity for remote communities, improve access to essential services, and create employment through labor-based methods involving Community-Based Organizations (CBOs). BK Enterprise has substantially completed the Phase II Drainage Cleaning Project under the Liberia Urban Resilience Project (LURP), funded by the World Bank and implemented by the Ministry of Public Works. This vital intervention targeted flood-prone communities in Central Monrovia, where blocked drainage systems had posed significant public health and environmental risks. Through labor-based methods, over 300 community workers were engaged in the manual removal of waste, desilting, and clearing of drainage channels, with all waste safely disposed at the authorized Whein Town landfill. The project also prioritized health and safety, social inclusion, and environmental safeguards, contributing significantly to flood reduction, improved urban sanitation, and community resilience.
